ReplyDeleteI loved your afghan story! I have a similar quilting story involving postage sized pieces of fabric that a friend thought I should turn into a quilt. It was her mother's UFO and she had recently died, and I knew how to quilt so obviously I was the one who should finish it. Argghh, before I knew what I was doing, my hand reached my hand out for the yellowed bag, gad, now I was in for it. I finally got the courage to give it back explaining it would probably never get done by me. I felt so guilty, but really, why should I? Oh dear, the things we do for love, right?
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'd like to add this book to my library! Thanks for the offer.

I so enjoyed your podcast, Alana. It's great to have you back. I identified tremendously with the knitting story. People love to give me their family's crafting supplies but I am getting more discriminating about what I accept. Life is too short to work with materials I don't love.

I'm so glad you're back. When I found out about your podcast I was thrilled and then two episodes later you announced you were done with it! The humanity! But I kept up with your blog and low and behold, you're back. Welcome, I'm thrilled again.
ReplyDeleteYour story made me laugh. It made me think about the time my friends mom-in-law wanted me to finish knitting a baby sweater that she had asked a lady in hospice to make for her grandson. She passed away right after she started the sweater. I was sure the request was what did her in. Luckily there was only about an inch of the sweater done so I was able to start over and not have to match gauge. Guilt, obligation and friendship will make you do crazy things!

ReplyDeleteHi Alana!
ReplyDeleteThank you for starting up your podcast again. I started listen to the older episodes this winter on my way to work and sincie I've been living in Scotland I've a small scottish accent when I speak English. However after listening to your podcast on my way to work for a month or so a co-worker said I had changed my accent to more american/californian :-)))
Anyway, thanks for great patterns, great yarn suggestions and an inspiring blogg.
