Icelandic Handknits- Blog Tour Stop

I am so happy to be the last stop on the Icelandic Handknits blog tour and to be able to share this beautiful book with all of you.

Icelandic Handknits is a collection of knitting patterns inspired by handknitted artifacts from the Textile Museum in Iceland. Each piece perfectly represents the rich culture, history, and knitting heritage that Iceland is known for.

In addition to the patterns, the book contains bits of Icelandic history, a comprehensive section explaining the traditional knitting techniques, and stunning photography that makes me want to hop on a plane headed to Iceland... immediately.

Yes. Please.

There is quite a variety of traditional Icelandic patterns available...

But the ones in particular that caught my eye were this amazing hat...

... and the gorgeous floral design on this blanket.

It is a beautiful book indeed. A wonderful look into Iceland and it's knitting culture.

Click HERE to learn more about the author Helene, this book, and Icelandic knitting
(And.. be sure to visit this page to learn about her upcoming tour of the textile museum!)

Icelandic Handknits is available in bookstores worldwide or on Amazon, but
leave a comment below by June 1 to enter to win a copy of your very own! :)

Please remember to include your contact information so that I can get in touch if you have been selected as the winner. Only one comment per person please.

Drawing Now Closed. Winner is "bowie" on Ravelry. Congratulations! :)

I would so love to win a copy of this book! I've been admiring it all throughout the blog tour and am #2 on my library's hold list. If it's as amazing as it looks, I'm sure 2 weeks from the library will be inadequate and it will go to the top of my to-buy list.

I remember being little and getting a jumper when my dad had been to Iceland. I also remember the tragedy when it shrunk because my poor dad didn't take into account that wool and 40c was doesn't mix. Somehow the beauty of this book reminds me of that incident.

This is such a creative exciting format for a book. From not having seen it yet, I cannot be sure, but it would seem that you have incorporated in the book every part of your culture. This is one of the first I have seen. You included cultural aspects that bring us to Iceland and we can view a way of life to us along with the knitting. Knitting is I think the main stay of the book. It is one of the most creative ways to engage us inside your Iceland!
