What an amazing pattern!
The pattern is simple, quick and not fussy at all..
There are only 4 cable crosses in the whole hat!
I love these how these over sized dramatic cables look..
Such a fun knit!
I made a few minor modifications to my version. I made the largest slouchiest version and added one extra cable cross before decreasing. I just felt that it should be there.
Also I eliminated some of the plain knit rounds in the decrease portion.
I'm really happy with how it turned out.
Its so soft and cushy and WARM.
Perfection.
The lovely yarn I have to thank for making this hat possible is Louisa Harding Thistle.
It offers a truly decadent knitting experience.
This hat took 3 balls, but if you were to make the smaller version,
you could definitely squeeze this pattern out of 2.
I just barely had to dip into that 3rd ball of yarn.
Check out my latest podcast episode to hear more about this yarn and
how to enter to win both yarn and pattern!

you were totally right adding a cable row before the decreases; this was corrected a long time ago in the pattern but I think I didn't send you the update!!!
You hat is very well done in this yarn and the pictures are so beautiful. Thanks Alana!!!
It looks lovely - I'm liking the colour too. Think I might have to give this a go.
This looks beautiful! Makes me want to make one--but maybe I'll wait until next year since spring is around the corner.
So, so gorgeous!! Love the way it turned out!
Just gorgeous! Love that yarn!
Your hat is beautiful. I love the softly colored yarn very much. I will have to add this hat to my list of hats to knit.
I always loved this pattern. Yours turned out just lovely!
Love (1,000,000,000)
Great job, Alana!
I love the hat - it is beautiful! I also love Thistle color #8.
Thanks
Very nice!
What a yummy hat. I bet you'll get a lot of use out of it! :)
What a beautiful hat - I love the slouchy look.
I believe my favorite color of Thistle is #5, Old Rose.
Of the 6 colors of Thistle shown on Loops' website, I would have to say #9, the brown color, would be my favorite. Old Rose is also quite lovely though. The yarn looks wonderfuly soft. Thanks.
This is beautiful and I really like the extra cable modification idea. I need extra slouch on top so may use your suggestion!
I love the thistle yarn- and really, could your daughter be any cuter? Really, she is precious!
Love this!
I love the hat and the yarn!
I cannot find the English version of this pattern on her website. What am I not seeing? I'm sure there has to be one. Would you please tell me where you found the English version? Thanks!
Oh this looks totally lush! It's ages since I looked at Louisa Harding yarns - need to cjeck them out again!
I agree---that's a great hat. I like Thistle #8, the burgundy.
I just checked the colors and I really like #8 of Thistle, I'll have to check out this pattern. Thanks for entering me.
It's gorgeous!
Love the hat. My favorite color is Thistle #9.
The thisle yarn I like the best is color #5. I would love to make a sweater out of this. The hats are great. I am not a hat person, but this pattern may make me one.
I think I'm going to have to try knitting cables. I love that hat!
Great hat pattern! I like Thistle #8 or #9
I actually hadn't come across this pattern till you mentioned it on the podcast - it's gorgeous! And your version is delectable and, as ever, so beautifully photographed.
MAD love 16 hat. Your daughter's is adorable, too (and as a mom of two, I love the "uncooperative" poses). I'm split between whether I would make 16 in #1 natural or #4 aqua, but I definitely want to make it for next winter.
Has anyone felt like this hat turned out small? I'm making the bigger size and it looks tiny. Using size 8 needles and Debbie Bliss Fez... I am a tight knitter, but this is ridiculous!
I love this hat. I've been dying to knit it, but the pattern is sadly no longer available on ravelry and I can't find it anywhere. ::sigh::
Beautiful beret. I love it so much but I cannot get the pattern anywhere. I thought I could buy it but we don't have a knitting shop where I live I still can't get the pattern. Hugs Rita xxx
