Knit The Alphabet

I recently discovered the book, Knit The Alphabet, by Claire Garland and couldn't resist knitting up a quick "N-N-K" out of scraps to display on the shelf of my office.

I've been a big fan of Claire's designs for years now. (Proof HERE and HERE.)
I have always loved her whimsical use of knit stitches to create the most adorable toys and now.. letters!

There are so many fun uses for these knitted letters. They would make such a fun decoration for a kid's room. Can you imagine a name strung up over a bed or small letters hanging from a crib mobile? What about a giant first letter of your child's name as a "pillow" on the bed? If I was "super mommy" I would love to knit the whole alphabet to practice making words with my 2 year old.

They are just so fun to make and play with..

and squish.

THAT is FABULOUS!
And,just so you know (in case you knit an entire alphabet), the longest word with no repeating letter is this: dermatoglyphics. Another option, also with 15 letters, is uncopyrightable!
Ask me how I know...lol!

those are so cute! I certainly wouldn't ever find the initiative to knit the whole alphabet, but it would be such a fun toy to make words with a little one, I agree!

I don't think you could have gotten a better 'squish' photo if you tried!

It would be such a sweet baby shower gift, if knitting friends got together to complete the alphabet!

These are adorable! Might look into making some of these for when I'm teaching, were they fairly straightforward to knit?

I just bought the book myself. I would like to knit large letters and hang them in my daughters play/craft room. I also might knit her initials and hang them in her bedroom.

I love this book! I would make the letters of her name for my littlest granddaughter. I might make my own for above my home office desk!
